Love the deep rich texture, and the aged look. Wonderful work.
Nancy,
I love this new work and the direction your work is headed. Very strong visually and conceptually.
Glad you're back...again :) Love the text work too!
Sounds like you've been working hard, which doesn't always mean we have to be producing something tangible...oft times the thinking and sitting with one's thoughts is the real work.
Thank you Leslie, Gwen and Debra! I appreciate your encouragement.
your work is gorgeous! i'm so inspired! just curious what you are doing to the sides?
Thanks, firehead. These are on 1 3/4" wooden panels so the sides are first painted black and then covered with strips of black rubber and tacks.
"Tale of Shadows" is a beautiful piece Nancy.

Thank you so much, Ian. I appreciate your response!
These pieces are just wonderful and I see them as powerful, not dark. Perhaps power can seem dark. I love your exploration and seeing one of your older works. The size of the current work is also very appealing.
Thank you, Terry. I have always been drawn to dark and/or black work and that hasn't been negative to me. The emotional darkness of these text works comes from the sense of loss that I am expressing about my mother's loss of memory resulting in my loss of her as the person she was.
My heart goes out to you. your family and your mother.
these have an ancient feel, very earthy and exotic...reminiscent of a far-away place/memory from another time....there is a sense of sadness also. at least that's what these pieces seem to me.
just discovered your wonderful paintings and blog!
Welcome, Stephanie! Thanks for your very nice comment. I hope you stop back again. I plan to post a couple of new pieces later this weekend.
